Enchant Opens with Great Expectations at First Horizon Park in Nashville

by Rich and Laura Lynch

First Horizon Park in Nashville, Tennessee has been transformed to a "Field of Beams" for the holiday season. Now through January 01, 2023 the baseball field is a winter wonderland of over four million lights. Enchant is a walk thru maze of multi-colored lights, towering trees and more. Enchant also has an ice skating trail, live entertainment and an opportunity to network with the man in red.

Nashville Vice Mayor Jim Shulman was on-hand on opening night to oversee the official lighting of the 100-foot tree situated in the outfield of the stadium. He also declared Friday, November 25, 2022 as "Enchant Day" in Music City thanking the workers and staff for their efforts before wishing the organization well in the hopes that this will become a new annual tradition in the city.

Two large reindeer welcome families to Enchant with that theme continuing throughout as Santa's most famous helpers are mixed into the maze. They are quite sizeable so you should be able to find them all along with some other animals. Pretty light combinations pave the way allowing for plenty of photo opportunities. One part of the maze is dedicated to diamonds which are often a popular item to give at this time of year. Holiday music is piped in adding to the festive atmosphere.

The concourse at First Horizon severs as a holiday marketplace that has adult beverages, concessions and features local venders selling food and seasonal items. From this level visitors get a broad over view of the spectacle below - with the tall Christmas tree taking center stage. One can see various colorful tunnels from this perspective as well.

Enchant is one of the world's largest holiday light events that is taking place in Music City as well as other locations around the country. The entire playing field at First Horizon Park is a dazzling display of lights. On opening night we were treated to singing carolers, dancing elves and a visit from the reigning Miss Tennessee - - Emily Suttle - who reminded folks to "be present" during the holidays. Later, we spotted her in the maze saying hi and taking pictures with patrons as they walked through this all-encompassing, amazing display.

Like the joy of Christmas there was a lot of anticipation surrounding the arrival of Enchant in Nashville. Just like the boxes found in many homes you are never quite sure what the opening will bring. According to some comments found online Enchant arrived like a lump of coal hanging by the fireplace. For others it was a true gem - a literal diamond of lights and cheer that lived up to its advance billing. We did observe long lines and a significant wait to enter the venue and there was noticeable confusion about the event's clear bag policy. Still, we don't want to be a Grinch and hope that Enchant presented by Hallmark can work out some of the opening night kinks and jitters to live up to their lofty expectations and promise to provide a night of wonder and enchantment to all who come from near and far.

Nashville's ballpark opened in the spring of 2015 and is the official home of the Nashville Sounds Baseball Club, the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. Along with baseball the stadium hosts special events such as Enchant throughout the year so please check out their website for more information about the team and Enchant.
