Garage‑Country Rebel Aubrie Sellers Makes a Villainous Return to the Grand Ole Opry
We were invited to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee on March 14, 2026, to see Aubrie Sellers perform. Sellers - the alternative country singer, songwriter and guitar player - brought an air of country music royalty to the room as the daughter of Jason Sellers and Lee Ann Womack. She is currently touring in support of her latest release Attachment Theory that has been described as dark, edgy and full of hard-won wisdom from modern dating.
Aubrie Sellers at the Grand Ole Opry. Says Sellers, "This record was born out of heartbreak, with the theme of attachment theory running through it in different ways. I've always been fascinated by psychology, especially people's personalities and quirks and how they function in relationships." She continued, "Sonically, this record leans even more into rock than my past albums but it has a darker, slower cadence." During her Opry segment Aubrie opened with the haunting "Villain of the Week" flowing into the riveting "Little Rooms" exploring the idea of discovering the "little rooms" in someone's mind and realizing that you are not compatible with them making for an intriguing observation sung from the Grand Ole Circle.
John Foster at the Grand Ole Opry. On Saturday, Aubrie shared the stage with a number of long-standing Opry members such as Connie Smith and John Conlee. Yet the night also showcased the Opry Square Dancers and the Gardiners Brothers who took Irish dancing to a whole new energetic level as they tapped their way through the rock and roll classics "Johnny B. Goode" and "Blue Suede Shoes". Mark Wills stated that he generally likes to play "Jacob's Ladder" in this venue as it was the song that got him to this stage in the first place. Newcomer Josh Okeefe had an Irish Bob Dylan vibe that was captivating. Erin Enderlin presented insightful music from The Gray House an Amazon Prime series set around the Civil War.
Josh Okeefe made a grand debut at the historic venue in Nashville. John Foster of American Idol fame shared that he has already graced the circle over a dozen times. Fans responded well to John's versions of "Always On My Mind" (Willie Nelson) along with "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)" (Toby Keith) dedicated to all military personal. The night ended with fast and furious bluegrass music courtesy of Dailey & Vincent who was joined by special guest Vince Gill on mandolin! In addition to being the longest running radio program ever, the Grand Ole Opry can also say that every radio program is different. The show on the 14th featured gospel, Irish culture, traditional country and Aubrie. Sellers has been making waves since her debut album New City Blues earned her a spot on Rolling Stone Country's Albums of the Year in 2016. Her music blends influences ranging from Led Zeppelin to Ralph Stanley that some have dubbed garage country and she made sure to rock the barn-themed Opry House on her long-overdue return to the venue.
