Just Call It the SV SG: Sadler Vaden Unveils His Signature Model at the Gibson Garage in Nashville
On Thursday, April 10, 2026 the Gibson Garage in Nashville hosted an invite only party to celebrate the debut of the Sadler Vaden SG Standard - the first-ever signature guitar for the acclaimed guitarist, producer, songwriter and longtime member of Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. The event kicked off with socializing prior to a quick Q&A in which Sadler shared the idea that:
Sadler Vaden debuts his signature SG in Nashville. "I really wanted to have something out there that's a great instrument - that's what that guitar means to me. My SG was a gift to me, to keep things going, to take on the road - it's a tool. What I hope is that someone buys this guitar - whether they are a fan of me and the band or not - and they pick that thing up and are like, 'This is a great guitar! This sounds good! I can take this on the road and in the studio.' It’s a workhorse guitar." During a pre-performace Q&A session, Vaden talked about how the origin of the project stemmed from having had all of his guitars stolen in Philadelphia while he was on the road over twenty years ago. He also commented on the SV SG's neck profile, pickups and the unique color (Natural Burst) that was described as a smokey ice tea. Sadler also expressed his appreciation to Gibson for designing a signature SG for a "sideman". Vaden was being modest as he is an acclaimed artist in his own right. He has toured heavily with Drivin' N' Cryin' and as a producer he has shaped the sound for artists such as Morgan Wade. Sadler has also received high praises for his solo work and expressive guitar playing. Modeled after Vaden's own 2005 SG, the Sadler Vaden SG Standard has a solid mahogany body with the iconic double‑cutaway silhouette. The neck is carved to his preferred rounded profile and is paired with a rosewood fretboard featuring 22 medium jumbo frets and acrylic trapezoid inlays plus a personalized touch appears on the two‑ply truss rod cover, which bears Vaden's initials in place of the standard SG engraving.
Sadler was personable during the pre-show Q&A session. In Nashville, Sadler fronting a power trio comprised of himself and The Whigs rhythm section - Julian Dorio on drums and Timothy Deaux on bass - made a joke about them being a "garage band now" as they played a concise energized set that showcased the sound of the Sadler Vaden SG Standard. Vaden's boss Jason Isbell joined the band for a song so that he could test and give his stamp of approval of the new SG. In honor of the event Sadler presented "Brand New Guitar" a nuanced yet punky piece. Vaden thank Gibson, his wife and his parents for their support in getting him to this momentous moment in time. As the evening unfolded, it became clear that this debut was more than a product launch - it was a celebration of craft, community and the long arc of a working musician's journey. The room was filled with fellow players, songwriters, industry veterans and fans who understood exactly what it means for a sideman‑turned‑frontman to be honored with a signature instrument. In a city built on guitars and grit, the Sadler Vaden SG Standard felt less like a commercial release and more like a milestone earned through years of touring, recording and shaping the sound of modern Americana. Since its inception back in 2021, the Gibson Garage located at 209 10th Avenue South, inside Cummins Station has become a vital part of the local Nashville music community and a cultural destination. In addition to hosting live performances, the Gibson Garage has exclusive apparel, one-of-a-kind instruments, interactive media stations, along with guitar gear and accessories bearing the historical name of Gibson whose collection now includes the Sadler Vaden SG Standard which is available worldwide at authorized Gibson dealers, at Gibson Garage locations or at www.gibson.com.
