Celtic Woman Casts a New Era Spell Over The Fisher Center in Nashville
Celtic Woman returned to Nashville, Tennessee with a tour stop at the elegant Fisher Center on April first of 2026. The A New Era concerts are showcasing their new artistic direction that incorporates the classic Celtic Woman sound with updated arrangements and production which is being described as a bridge between their early PBS‑era identity and their future direction. The Music City faithful watched in awe as the gifted Celtic women and company turned the city's most pristine hall into a cathedral of harmony as they delivered a night of soaring voices, polished arrangements and pure emerald‑lit magic.
Celtic Woman is a globally celebrated Irish musical ensemble formed in 2004 in Dublin. The group presents Celtic music, classical crossovers and contemporary songs, all performed by a rotating lineup of exceptional singers and instrumentalists. Their signature style is a blend of modern and traditional Irish storytelling told through orchestral arrangements and heavenly harmonies. Celtic Woman's ongoing mission is to present Irish music with cinematic sweep and emotional depth. On April Fool's Day, we enjoyed an engaging evening of Celtic Woman's renowned harmonies, stirring originals and instrumental virtuosity brought to life by four Irish singers, accompanied by dancers and a full ensemble playing Celtic staples including the bagpipe, bodhran, whistles and Uilleann pipes. From Irish standards and contemporary favorites to classical along with their own compositions, the performance at the Fisher Center was a captivating blend of current and long-established Irish music.
The current Celtic Woman lineup features Mairéad Carlin: A Grammy-nominated singer from Derry, Northern Ireland. She has performed with orchestras around the world and first joined Celtic Woman in 2013. Muirgen O'Mahony: From County Cork is a classically trained vocalist with degrees from the Cork School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in London. She became a member of Celtic Woman in 2021 and is featured on multiple albums and PBS specials. Joining the veterans are Caitríona Sherlock: A singer from County Monaghan and multiple All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil champion, who has toured internationally with Irish Christmas in America and ANÚNA - and, Kate Heneghan - a virtuoso fiddle player from County Mayo whose fiery technique and radiant stage presence have made her the newest standout member of Celtic Woman. As promised the A New Era concert featured Celtic Woman standards along with new selections all handled by the lovely lasses and their just as talented dancers and band. One of the newer yet older songs they presented was "Black is the Color". Their take on "Scarborough Fair" was enchanting. While "Amazing Grace" remains a highpoint of their shows. Yet, they chose to close set one with a tip of the hat to Tennessee's own Dolly Parton. The ladies mentioned meeting her and then going through Dolly"s impressive catalogue looking for a song to cover. They chose one that has been done a lot but "Jolene" sung by four incredible vocalists gave Parton's prose even more power.
The second half of the show included traditional tunes along with the song "Galileo" which was first released in 2004 on O'Rourke's debut album. It has become a notable Irish folk ballad, praised for its lyrical depth and melodic beauty that Celtic Woman has put their own special spin on. They also presented a colorful, moving version of "Over the Rainbow". Of course, the ensemble presented the just as stirring "Danny Boy" - a song they said has been sung at every Celtic Woman show since their founding - along with the almost gothic "Orinoco Flow (Sail Away)" which is another classic that is important to their history. As is their custom Celtic Woman toasted the crowd with "The Parting Glass" to end the evening on a happy note. The stylish Fisher Center was an ideal location for the lavish Celtic Woman concert. This multi-purpose venue located on the campus of Belmont University in Nashville Tennessee continues to present a wide range of performances including dance productions, live music, operas, plays and seasonal productions.
