Melissa Etheridge Lights Up CMA Fest and Turns HiFi Buys Into Her Own Listening Lounge

by Rich and Laura Lynch

Friday, June 5, 2026, was a full and memorable day for Melissa Etheridge. She began the afternoon at the CMA (Country Music Association) Festival, where video footage captured her delivering a powerful, engaging performance of her Grammy‑winning hit "Come to My Window" from the Dr. Pepper Amp Stage.

Melissa Etheridge was more than happy to talk about Rise in Nashville.

Later that evening, Etheridge headlined an intimate listening event at HiFi Buys, located at 3724 Nolensville Pike in Nashville, Tennessee. The long‑established specialty electronics store is known for its high‑end audio systems, home‑theater setups and custom installations - a fitting venue for a deep dive into sound.

Inside the upscale showroom, every TV and sound system played interviews and music from Etheridge, creating a warm, immersive welcome. Several rooms were open for guests to explore different home‑entertainment configurations, each filled with premium components, speakers and displays. Light refreshments encouraged mingling before everyone gathered in one of the listening rooms for a conversation with Melissa and a curated preview of her most recent album, Rise.

Etheridge shared that she has done several events like this and revealed a personal connection to the space: one of the first major purchases she made early in her career was a pair of KEF speakers. She was excited for attendees to hear Rise through the same brand she has trusted for decades. KEF speakers are widely praised by audiophiles for their natural, detailed sound and their ability to maintain clarity across a wide listening area.

The first track played was "Matches", a fiery song built on images of passion and the idea of burning away what no longer serves you. Etheridge spoke about how producer Shooter Jennings helped her achieve the exact sonic textures she envisioned - textures that the KEF speakers revealed beautifully.

Another standout moment came with "Bein' Alive", an anthemic, guitar‑driven celebration of survival that felt especially powerful in the room. "Don't You Want a Woman" followed, a swaggering, bluesy rocker that sounded rich and vibrant through the system.

Etheridge also discussed "Tomboy", a song about embracing her identity and remembering childhood moments like climbing trees. The track ends with a whistle - a part she admitted she can't reliably reproduce live. Her wife cleverly suggested using a kazoo instead, a detail that drew laughs from the audience.

One of the emotional highlights of the evening was "The Other Side of Blue", her collaboration with Chris Stapleton, recorded at the legendary RCA Studio. Etheridge described the song as an exploration of moving through pain rather than being trapped beneath it. Their voices blend with striking emotional weight, capturing the heart of the album's themes.

She also spoke about the California wildfires that nearly claimed her home, the neighbors who weren't as fortunate, and then shifted to a happier memory: her daughter's recent wedding. She joked that she was "allowed" to perform two songs at the ceremony - a story that led naturally into the final track of both the album and the evening, "More Love". Etheridge closed with the reminder that the world needs more love, not less.

For fans eager to experience more, Melissa Etheridge is touring throughout the summer in support of Rise. And for anyone in the Nashville area looking to elevate their home‑entertainment setup, HiFi Buys remains a standout destination for KEF and other premium audio brands.
