Andrea Bocelli Is the King Of Op at Bridgestone Return in Nashville

by Rich and Laura Lynch

The award-winning, multi-platinum-selling, Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli returned to Nashville, Tennessee on Monday, February 23, 2026, as part of his Romanza world tour. Anticipation was high at the Bridgestone Arena as people packed the house for a night at the opera. The concert also featured collaborations with Michael W. Smith, Lauren Daigle and more.

Since the 1990's, Bocelli has popularized operatic music by blending classical, pop and world into his operatic performances. Thus, he has become one of the best-selling solo artists in history. His records have sold millions and with the release of Duets - 30th Anniversary (2024), he achieved yet another crossover hit with "Canto della Terra" featuring Ms. Daigle who sang with Andrea in Nashville.

Duets were a high point during the show along with songs from Romanza. Although it is considered a compilation, Romanza (1997) is often called Bocelli's breakthrough record and is one of his most commercially successful. It is both the best-selling Italian-language and the best-selling predominantly non-English language album of all time.

We knew we were in for an elaborate evening of music when a sizable orchestra and choir took their seats on stage. Above them was a screen which was effectively used to add vibrant visuals to Andrea's muse. Elegant dances also enhanced the stories being sung. Although we do not understand Italian, we did recognize a number of classical pieces including "Figaro Cavatina" and the somewhat ominous "O Fortuna" which was probably the most heavy-metal and scary sounding song aired on the Bridgestone stage in some time. These more familiar numbers gave the concert a greatest hits of opera vibe which was engaging as well as entertaining.

Not only is English - our only language but we grew up on classic rock which is still our first love. Yet Bocelli makes opera assessable to all. There is a pageantry to it - starting with the staging and how well-dressed all the singers are. Next, is the sheer talent of multi-octave vocalists presenting enduring music with so much passion and poise. Andrea is a true master of the genre plus he is very personable.

Guest performers for the February 2026 North American tour dates including Nashville have featured Larisa Martinez. She is a soprano recognized for operatic duets with Bocelli on "Bimba dagli occhi pieni di malia" and "Time to Say Goodbye". Pia Toscano a pop vocalist who has made "All by Myself" (Eric Carmen) her own collaborated with Bocelli. She is known for singing "Vivo per lei" and "Canto della terra" with the legendary tenor. Also in the house was Edward Parks a baritone who brought some humor to his segments and shined brightly in a poignant trio configuration with Martinez and Bocelli.

The majesty of the music was moving giving us a much greater appreciation for opera. As this polished production came to a close the star made a point of thanking the wonderful conductor, choir and orchestra reminding us that a concert of this caliber is not about one person but about music that continues to stand the test of time.
