Outlaw Country's Tyler Halverson Steps Into the Spotlight With His Opry Debut
On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, outlaw country artist Tyler Halverson made his debut on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. Tyler is on the road in support of his latest album In Defense of Drinking and the single "Like the Rodeo".
Tyler Halverson made a grand debut at the Opry in 2026. Raised in South Dakota, Halverson balanced ranch work with his musical pursuits which included a diverse number of influences such as Drake, Mac Miller, Garth Brooks and Merle Haggard. Halverson is crafting an authentic yet unique style of outlaw country for the modern era. His two-song set at the Opry was packed with vibrant visual prose paired with witty wordplay. Since Tyler is promoting his most current project it made sense that he presented the title track at the Opry. On the release of the album, Halverson has said that the song "In Defense of Drinking" spells out who is to blame for all your chaos: YOU. The hook being - "I'm the reason that I'm lonely, drinking's the excuse" - is a hard-hitting truth. He also said this album is about heartbreak and hope. Tracks such as "More Hearts Than Horses" and "Fort Worth Losing" speak on recklessness while "Son Brother Believer" represent wanting to be better.” Check out Halverson's new record and catch him on tour in 2026.
Also at the Opry - T. Graham Brown, Henry Cho, the Jack Wharff Band, Dylan & Jay Demarcus, Dailey & Vincent and Lauren Alaina. Also, of interest on the 10th was the always entertaining Riders In The Sky along with Dailey & Vincent who surprised us with a cover of "The Rose". The Jack Wharff Band brought the house down or should we say up with "Washed" a feisty song of faith. T. Graham Brown also testified with "Wine into Water" along with a rocking version of "Mustang Sally". Comedian Henry Cho had us laughing with his commentary on aging, current events and the weather. Dylan & Jay Demarcus (Rascal Flatts) delivered a moving version of "God Bless the Broken Road". So much so, that the closer Lauren Alaina was in tears after watching 13-year-old Dylan share the stage with his dad. She said it reminded her of her late father who had passed on his love of the Opry to his daughter. Alaina composed herself to perform a compelling version of "Road Less Traveled" and she reminded us that spur-of-the-moment reactions do happen during this live show. Halverson has now joined the ranks of those who have had the honor of playing the legendary Grand Ole Opry. In addition to being the longest running radio program ever, the Grand Ole Opry can truly state that every show is unique. On Tuesday, Tyler shared the spotlight with a number of long-standing Opry members along with fellow newcomers to the sometimes-spontaneous circle.
Riders In The Sky have been there for much of the Opry's 100 year in Nashville. Related Links: For more information on TYLER HALVERSON and the other organizations mentioned please visit the following links - Tyler Halverson | Grand Ole Opry
