Everywhere You Look - It's Authors, Authors, Authors - at NRB 2024

by Rich and Laura Lynch

The annual NRB International Christian Media Convention is the largest nationally and internationally recognized conference dedicated solely to support those in the field of Christian communications. This extensive event took place at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, Tennessee from February 20-23, 2024. As one might expect there were lots of authors and publishers onsite promoting books and the business of content. A wide array of topics was on display at NRB and following are some of our finds:

Keynote speaker and author James E. Ward Jr. spoke about his new book Zero Victim.

Pastor James E. Ward Jr. spoke at the opening session at NRB on Tuesday night. He is also an author who came into prominence when he was heard on CNN and other news channels. James called on Americans to address the ongoing moral law crisis that became even more apparent as civil unrest unfolded during the summer of 2020. He warned people to push away victimhood identities and develop a new attitude in Christ. The Zero Victim message is one that Pastor Ward has been preaching about for years and his book aims to set you free from anxiety, depression and fear.

Wednesday, as we were making our way into the NRB Exhibit we ran into co-authors Carolyn Snelling and Tiarra Tompkins who were promoting their book God's Grace & Grit: Surviving Your Fairytale. "After the honeymoon glow wanes," Carolyn states, "challenges of small and big proportions can arise. How do any of us survive these challenges?" In response, this dynamic duo provides 12 tips with a biblical perspective on both the grace and the grit that God provides for all to succeed in marriage.

Messianic pastor Jonathan Cahn and his best-selling books in Nashville.

Charisma Media is a Christian multi-media company, long recognized as an innovator and known as the leading Charismatic/Pentecostal publisher in the world. Their booth at NRB featured books from some of their best-selling authors including Jonathan Cahn who is a Messianic Jewish pastor, author and novelist best known for his debut novel The Harbinger. He is also the founder and leader of the Beth Israel Worship Center in Wayne, New Jersey.

Fasting by Jentezen Franklin, The Bait of Satan by John Bevere, The Seven Pillars of Health by Don Colbert, Prayers that Rout Demons by John Eckhardt are some of the many other titles that Charisma Media has distributed.

Current events on display in Nashville; author Thomas S. Heemstra.

Reflecting recent news headlines we found that Jim Domen writes compassionately about his own experience with same-sex attraction while striving to serve Jesus. He also addresses key questions for parents of children who identify as LGBTQ while reminding people that your parenting is not a mistake nor is your child a mistake.

Even more current events were up for discussion as author Sally Saxon was onsite to tackle the controversial subject of medical mandates with her compelling book The Covid-19 Vaccines & Beyond.

Vying for similar readership we learned how the Anthrax crisis was a pre-cursor to the pandemic period when we met author Thomas S. Heemstra who was repping his compelling Anthrax a Deadly Shot in the Dark: Unmasking the Truth Behind a Hazardous Vaccine.

Author Mark W. Koch and his 30-day boot camp for men.

Author Jim Harman, who has studied Daniel's prophecies extensively has expounded his views on the imminent return of Christ to the Temple Mount, outlined in his series, Daniel's Prophecies Unsealed. He is adding to his observations in a new book Esdra's Three-Headed Eagle that ties into Daniel's visions and the understanding of the fourth beast, the Eagle, representing the United States. Jim was at NRB to share his insights.

Author, Terry Paulson is a PhD psychologist and a leading authority on change management and in turning positive psychology research into practical insights that produce real-world results.

For more than 30 years, Terry has been motivating audiences to change limiting beliefs into breakthroughs that lead to personal and professional success. The Summit is his first attempt at a novel that melds political intrigue with a Christian twist. Dr. Paulson was at NRB to promote and sign The Summit.

Children's books like "Where Is the Missing Puzzle Piece?" were well-represented at NRB 2024.

The concept of overcoming obstacles was continued in books by Karisa Moore whose Broken Butterflies: Emerging Through Grief, A Suicide Survivor's Poetic Journal revealed how she dealt with her own son's tragic passing through writing prose. The First Hour For Men by Mark W. Koch is a unique and simple 30-day study guide that instructs men how to pray, what to pray for, how to spiritually guard and protect themselves and their families and how to grow closer to God in their every day lives.

God Is In Your Mess by Cindy Schmidler seeks to answer questions like "What do you do when life turns upside down?" by drawing upon stories of how God helped a cast of Biblical figures through their own trials. In similar fashion, Summer Dey reveals her own amazing testimony about the power of God in her award-winning A Year of Miracles that contains weekly stories of miracles, signs, and wonders that can occur when you spend a year of your life reading the Bible cover to cover!

Jenell M. Jones is a mother with over a decade of experience as a biological, step, and foster mother with a heart to love and serve. Jenell adopted her first child in 2005 and another in 2015. However, the second experience as told in Shattered tells the story of her pain and reveals things that people should know when it comes to adoption and fostering.

Carolyn Snelling and Tiarra Tompkins were promoting their book "God's Grace & Grit: Surviving Your Fairytale".

Author Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith was onsite to talk about The Exhausted Church which focuses on church culture and the need to return to the practice of honoring the Sabbath. Chronic Grace by Julie K. Rhodes is a memoir of heart, humor, and struggle that leads to the transforming power of grace. Julie hopes that others will be inspired by the telling of her soul-stirring journey.

Where Is the Missing Puzzle Piece? is a children's book that speaks to all ages about the important message of identity. Pete the Puzzle Piece is on a journey to figure out where he fits in and in the process, he discovers his God-given purpose. There are also accessories that go with the book.

So, as you can see NRB showcased plenty of authors and of course we only touched upon a few of the many writers out there with books about end-times, faith, family, God, Jesus, relationships, and more.
