It Was a Super Weekend at the Nashville Zoo
It was a win-win at the Nashville Zoo over Super Bowl Weekend (February 06-08, 2026). On Friday and Saturday, the Zoo collected food that went to Second Harvest Food Bank. Patrons who donated 4 non-perishable items were given an entrance ticket to the Zoo (limit 2 per household) that is good through early 2027.
The third annual Music City Puppy Bowl lived up to all of its cute and cuddly promise. On Sunday for the third year in a row, the Nashville Zoo teamed up with Nashville Humane Association (NHA) to host the Music City Puppy Bowl from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Twelve peppy pups took to the turf at 11am and 1pm with the goal of winning the 2026 Lombarky Trophy. The time between the games gave fans opportunities to meet and possibly adopt dogs from Team Claws, Team Paws, Team Howls, and Team Growls. This incredibly cute competition drew sizable crowds in support of NHA. Super Bowl Sunday was also the last night of Zoolumination which is one of the largest Chinese lantern festivals in the States. This colorful light display has become a much-anticipated annual event at that Zoo which runs from November to early February. It really was a super weekend in Nashville as we were reminded of three great organizations doing super work in Middle Tennessee.
The trophy, the athletes and the spectators at the Nashville Zoo's Ajax Turner Amphitheater. For almost 50 years, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee has ensured equitable access to the food and resources that people in the region need to survive and thrive. Since 1946, the Nashville Humane Association (NHA) has found thousands of loving forever homes for cats and dogs. In addition to pet adoptions, NHA offers low-cost vaccine and spay/neuter clinics, a pet food bank, foster care opportunities and educational resources for pet owners and the broader community. The Nashville Zoo is an educational and entertaining place to explore year-round. Their staff is committed to the care and conservation of all animals and their work includes breading programs, protecting habitats and research. Super Bowl weekend demonstrated that the Zoo also assists local charities who are doing important work here in Music City. Please support all of these worthy organizations.
The Super Bowl Food Drive was hosted on Saturday; Sunday was the final chance to see the always super Zoolumination.
