A Fine Paring - MCAR & Herrick at Total Wine & More in Brentwood, Tennessee

by Rich and Laura Lynch

It was a fine paring at the Music City Animal Rescue (MCAR)'s adoption event that was held at Total Wine and More in Brentwood, Tennessee on May 18th, 2024 - from 12 to 4 PM. On Saturday, it was cuteness, music, wine and more. MCAR had a prime location at the popular store to showcase some of their young cats and dogs who were fully vetted thus ready for adoption upon an application approval process. There was information for locals to learn more about the good works that MCAR does for the animal community paired with a fine display of treats for pets.

More MCAR events coming soon to the area - watch their website for updates.

Music City Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization that rescues abandoned, abused or neglected animals in and around the Middle Tennessee area. Since MCAR does not have a physical location their volunteers foster cats, dogs and more while assisting with finding forever homes for them. MCAR is supported by dedicated people who are always looking for others to adopt, foster, donate or assist with social media, tech and travel.

Herrick brought the goods to the package store.

The adoption event also featured live music by the highly talented Herrick who are also ambassadors for MCAR. Herrick is a dynamic music group fronted by the powerhouse female vocalist Donna Herrick. Their sound has been called country soul that rocks. Their originals meld harmonies with solid instrumentation and they can make covers all their own. Herrick is scheduled to play at the Whiskey Bent Salon on June 7th, 2024 - during CMA - so check them out if you are attending that festival.

Vickie Harris and MCAR were featured on the local Talk of The Town television show earlier in the week to promote the event.

MCAR's host - Total Wine and More certainly lived up to their name. This sizable store had plenty of wines but also a wide array of adult beverages including local beers, high-end spirits along with snacks and accessories. There was also a number of tastings taking place on Saturday plus there was a back room for classes and other occassions. If that was not enough their order center appeared to very busy bagging requests for customer pickups. But, Total Wine is the type of store that is also a lot of fun to just explore.

Did someone say Tennessee whiskers? We'll drink to that!

MCAR Founding member Vickie Harris was on hand at Total Wine and although she had lost her voice when we ran into her, she would be the first to tell you that "we wish that there was no need for our services, and we pray that someday there will be no more unwanted animals, but until that day arrives, we are strong advocates for SPAY and NEUTER of all pets. All animals adopted through MCAR are altered prior to adoption as well as fully vetted."

Faith was still waiting to be found at Total Wine and the cookies were fine.

The adoption event at Total Wine and More in Brentwood was a fine pairing of drinks, good works and music. It was a fun afternoon that spotlighted what Music City Animal Rescue does for the community and hopefully some of the cute critters that were on location found a family. Throughout the year MCAR has adoption events at business that proudly support non-profits and the important services that they provide to the Middle Tennessee region.

We found an appropriate brew to toast the occassion with in Brentwood.
