The Christmas Ring Begins Its Quest to Become a New Holiday Classic in Franklin

by Rich and Laura Lynch

Karen Kingsbury's The Christmas Ring opens in theaters nationwide via Fathom on November 06, 2025. The story follows a military widow (Jana Kramer) who falls in love with an antiques dealer (Benjamin Hollingsworth) while looking for a lost heirloom that had been in her family since D-Day. Meanwhile the dealer's father (Kelsey Grammer) finds something that could change his life and ruin everything for the fledgling couple.

Karen Kingsbury greets fans, friends and cast members prior to the debut of The Christmas Ring in Franklin.

We had the pleasure of attending an advanced screening of The Christmas Ring on October 28, 2025, at the Franklin Theater in the charming town of Franklin, Tennessee. The event featured a Getty photographer, cast and creatives, musicians such as Matthew West and Michael W. Smith along with a lot of influencers. The media red carpet was all abuzz as the movie made its theatrical debut in Williamson County.

Outside the venue part of Main Street had been blocked off for another carpet that was set up for locals to get in on the celebration and seek autographs from many of the A-list attendees. One of the reasons the city was so excited about this movie was that it was filmed in Franklin and landmarks including Merridee's Bakery were prominently featured as the story unfolded inside the popular Main Street venue.

Before the preview Karen spoke briefly to the audience sharing that making a movie was hard in comparison to writing a book. Kingsbury stated that they started this project in April of 2025, so it really was a miracle that the film was ready for the holiday season in only six month's time. The astonished author gave God the credit for the fast turnaround from script to screening.

If you have read the book (we have not but will be) you already know that The Christmas Ring which takes place around Christmas is a timeless tale that really can be enjoyed year-round yet has the potential to become a true holiday classic. It touches upon faith, family and friendships taking us to a place where community still matters. Even more importantly The Christmas Ring tells the real story of military families who face losing loved ones or living on edge for those in active service.

Kingsbury's book The Christmas Ring captures the spirit of the season with its rich narrative and well-developed characters and now folks can enjoy it on the big screen starting November 06, 2025.

The Franklin Theatre is an entertainment hub and was the ideal location for The Christmas Ring red-carpet premiere of that New York Times bestselling book. It opened in the summer of 1937 and almost shut down in 2007 but thanks to the Heritage Foundation of Williamson County the venue was restored. Today, the Franklin Theater continues the cherished tradition of showing movies but also hosts live music concerts, conferences and other special events.
