Dan Auerbach's Fourth Annual Easy Eye Fish Fry Sizzles to Perfection in East Nashville

by Rich and Laura Lynch

The 4th Annual Easy Eye Sound Fish Fry, hosted by Dan Auerbach in East Nashville on September 13, 2025, was a soulful celebration of music, community, and Americana spirit, drawing fans and artists alike for an unforgettable day and evening.

Dan Auerbach's fourth annual Easy Eye Fish Fry sizzled to perfection in East Nashville.

Held in conjunction with the closing day of AmericanaFest 2025, the Fish Fry has become a beloved tradition in East Nashville, blending down-home hospitality with high-caliber performances. Dan Auerbach, frontman of The Black Keys and founder of Easy Eye Sound, once again opened the doors of his studio and heart to the community, curating a lineup that honored the roots and future of American music while showcasing some of the top acts on his Easy Eye Sound label. The event took place at American Legion Post 82, a venue steeped in local history and known for its intimate vibe and vintage charm.

The Black Keys, Robert Finley and McKinley James led the pack at this year's big party.

The evening featured a dynamic mix of performers from the Easy Eye Sound roster and beyond. This year - we were invited out by the amazing American blues and soul singer-songwriter and guitarist Robert Finley - who was celebrating the upcoming release of his latest Dan Auerbach-produced collection called Hallelujah! Don't Let The Devil Fool Ya - and don't be fooled, no-one was having a better time than the 71-year-old who is enjoying his career resurgence on Easy Eye Sound by declaring, "we're having so much fun!".

More music at the Fish Fry.

On the other end of the spectrum, we really enjoyed another Auerbach protege McKinley James. This 21-year-old phenom was doing his best Joe Bonamassa impression at the Fish Fry as he was dropping many smokin' selections from his debut Working Class Blues which elevated James to "one to watch" status as he takes his talent from Music City to the world with several upcoming tour dates on his schedule. Speaking of Dan, as tradition dictates him and Black Keys bandmate Patrick Carney were joined by an extended lineup to close out the fourth annual event in true historic and legendary fashion just as fans of East Nashville's best annual party have come to expect.

Norman Greenbaum gifts Rockin' Rich Lynch his classic album; more fun at the Fish Fry.

Beyond the music, the Fish Fry delivered on its namesake with a spread of Southern fare that kept guests fueled and festive. Local vendors and chefs served up crispy fried fish, hushpuppies, pizza and sides that honored the region’s culinary traditions. The laid-back atmosphere encouraged mingling between artists and fans, with picnic tables, string lights, and vintage decor creating a backyard party vibe that felt both nostalgic and fresh. The always popular free schwag and services expanded this year with live T-shirt printing, free tattoos and a professional photo booth that were active all afternoon.

The fish that gives the Fish Fry its name; even more fun to be had!

More star power was sighted just off of Gallatin Pike as classic rock legend Norman Greenbaum took in the festivities while presenting his long-time friend and MCN Founder Rockin' Rich Lynch with an autographed copy of his recently re-issued Spirit in the Sky LP on limited edition Cosmic Blue vinyl. Also seen was Representative Justin Jones who was meeting his constituents while himself joining in the fun and fair like atmosphere at the Fish Fry.

Justin Jones, Dan Auerbach, free schwag and services - what more could you ask for?!?

As the sun set over East Nashville, the 4th Annual Easy Eye Sound Fish Fry reaffirmed its place as a cornerstone of Music City's cultural calendar. Dan Auerbach's vision - melding authenticity, artistry, and community - was on full display, offering a glimpse into the soul of Nashville that goes beyond the honky-tonks and neon lights. For those lucky enough to attend, it was more than a concert — it was a celebration of connection, creativity, and the enduring power of American music. Fingers crossed we get invited back next year - we already have it circled on our calendar - and, you should too!

We came for Robert Finley and stayed for The Black Keys - and the free drinks!
