Gibson Garage Fest '25 Strikes a Chord in Nashville

by Rich and Laura Lynch

It's hard to believe that the Gibson Garage - located at 209 10th Avenue South, Suite 209 inside Cummins Station in Nashville, Tennessee - first opened its doors four years ago in 2021 to mark Gibson Brands' celebrated return as a vital and much loved manufacturer of quality musical instruments. To keep the party going the company has created the Gibson Guitar Festival - this year timed to CMA Week from June 4th through the 7th in Music City and culminating with a birthday extravaganza for Les Paul featuring his talented and high-flying godson - Steve Miller.

Gibson Garage Fest '25 marked four years of Gibson's presence in downtown Nashville.

On Thursday, new members of the Gibson Generation Group (G3) were featured throughout the day proving that the future of six-stringers and rock music in general is in good hands - and that's got to be music to the guitar manufacturer's ears. The Gibson Generation Group is a powerful two-year mentorship program that fosters a diverse new generation of young guitar players, songwriters and music creators across the globe. The program encourages young players to pursue a career in music by providing monthly artist mentorships, one-on-one artist relations support, instrument loans, collaborative promotions, performance opportunities and inclusion in global marketing campaigns. Grace Bowers is a veteran of the platform and it worked out pretty good for her!

Up first was the captivating Rocco Gorelik - a 15-year-old guitar prodigy and rising star in country music from Johns Creek, Georgia - who reminded us a bit of John Foster who just finished second on this year's American Idol. Next, we watched the bold Lauren Hunter who took the world by storm when she joined the Foo Fighters at fifteen to play "Monkey Wrench" live with Dave Grohl and Co. Despite never having performed onstage before, Lauren nailed it and a video capturing the moment went viral on YouTube. Lauren has an EP out with her band Hunter that was just released in time for her busy week in Nashville. The last act we watched was Gabe Crumby - another young gun who impressed with his Springsteen meets Cash songwriting style and quick picking on a black ES.

On Friday, more mainstream acts including A Thousand Horses and Brett Young were set to hit the Gibson Garage stage. But, fans still in town on Monday, June 9th are in for a real treat when Gibson Garage Nashville will proudly welcome the Les Paul Foundation - whose mission is to honor and share the life, spirit and legacy of Les Paul through generations. In partnership with Gibson Gives - the philanthropic division of Gibson - the Les Paul Foundation has announced the annual Les Paul Spirit Award will be presented to legendary music artist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Steve Miller. The annual award is presented to an individual who exemplifies the spirit of the late, great Les Paul through innovation, engineering, technology and/or music. In addition to the award, a grant from the Les Paul Foundation will be made in the honoree's name to the charity of his choice. Like Les Paul, Steve Miller personifies the spirit of excellence through musicianship and industry recognition.

Over the last four years, the Gibson Garage Nashville has become a vibrant part of the local Nashville music community and a cultural destination in the heart of Music City. An immersive and exciting place to experience live music, the Gibson Garage Nashville live stage features performances and in-store events from music icons and emerging artists. On any given day, music lovers can learn how to play a guitar from visionary teachers, or watch a taping of the award-winning Gibson TV series. The Garage also features exclusive apparel collections with renowned national and local Nashville clothing designers, one-of-a-kind instruments, celebrity and film memorabilia, interactive media stations, along with guitar gear and accessories you cannot find anywhere else in the world.
