The 35th Annual Antiques & Garden Show Cultivates a Big Crowd at Music City Center in Nashville

by Rich and Laura Lynch

The Antiques & Garden Show was held at the Music City Center in Nashville January 31 through February 02, 2025. Now in its 35th year this elegant event has become a treasured tradition here in Middle Tennessee. Over 150 exhibitors were onsite to showcase antiques, decor, fine art, furniture, jewelry, rugs and more.

The Antiques & Garden Show was in full bloom in its 35th year in Nashville.

Each year the Antiques & Garden Show has a theme. This year's was "Cultivating Home Life Well Tended" which encouraged attendees to explore the connections of home and nature by creating spaces that nourish the soul. With an eclectic group of vendors there were plenty of pieces to inspire paired with gorgeous garden displays showcasing innovations in horticulture.

Along with all the artistic elements the Antiques & Garden Show had book signings, keynote speakers, lectures, parties and star power. On Friday January 31st both Brooke Shields and Sheryl Crow participated in discussions on design. Brooke was available afterwards to sign copies of her latest book which could be purchased at the Antiques & Garden Show at the Books A Million (BAM) pop-up store. BAM was also selling volumes related to home and gardening.

The Antiques & Garden Show featured artisans and dealers from near and far showcasing antiques from around the world. Modern art was also well represented by the likes of Ed Nash from Nashville. Whereas Avec Moi based out of nearby Franklin Tennessee brought a French flair to the show. We did notice a number of returning vendors including one of our favorites VE designs who craft large and lovely Swedish Mora clocks.

The "Inglewylde" display, mechanical automatons and Brooke Shields all made for a most memorable event.

Some favorites were the rural and rustic items on display by Syvia Antiques all the way from Nantucket, Massachusetts. They brought a little piece of the island with them including some nostalgic nautical themed items and whale paintings. The most popular booth we entered was the pop-up store from Don Fields and Craig Ringstad out of Fairway, KS who brought just a piece of their renowned retail space including a fantastic pair of ornate shell urns that would set you back only $28,000. B. Viz Design from Louisiana were showcasing stunning textiles including clothes, pillows and tapestries. Peony's Envy heralding from New Jersey, ship bare-root peony plants nationwide in the spring & fall while attending horticultural events such as the Antiques & Garden Show throughout the year.

Of particular interest was "Inglewylde" which at first glance looked like a large nest but once we stepped inside it, we saw that it was a whimsical display of spring ephemerals, a mossy stumpery of ferns and woodland perennials surrounding an inviting shelter. "Inglewylde" was a collaborative effort led by Daigh Rick Landscape Architects who are dedicated to creating environments where natural beauty seamlessly blends with formal design.

The Antiques & Garden Show had something for everyone at all sorts of price points. There were plenty of one-of-a-kind items fetching top dollars along with affordable plants, seeds, tools and more. We were drawn to a pair of garden lions priced around $20,000 but was able to purchase a $3 cat tassel from Lina's Interiors out of Leland, Mississippi which - in our mind - might have been the best bargain of the show.

Seeds, silk and colorful scenes were on fully display at Music City Center.

As we were exploring this expansive exhibit, we realized that another fun way to enjoy The Antiques & Garden Show is to look for themes of our own. So, with the lucky purchase behind us we decided to focus on felines during our second pass around the convention hall. Sure enough - there was quite a bit of art featuring felines along with other critters including birds, fishes and horses. So, our day was complete with cats along with a better understanding of creating spaces that nourish the soul.

The mission of the Antiques & Garden Show of Nashville is to raise funds for Cheekwood Estate & Gardens and ECON Charities by exhibiting the highest-quality antiques, landscaped gardens and horticultural items paired with a related educational outreach program. Founded in 1990, this show has donated over eleven million dollars while providing an exception experience to enjoy and purchase fine art and furnishings.

The Antiques & Garden Show host - the Music City Center - in Nashville is surrounded by numerous hotels, live music venues, museums and restaurants so there is plenty to do in the area after a conference. So, all being well we are already looking forward to the next one as they celebrate their 36th anniversary in 2026.

A fun way to explore the show is to search for a theme - we chose felines this year.
