Thankful Once Again for The Catio in Nashville

by Rich and Laura Lynch

We are thankful for The Catio who has successfully combined cat adoptions and a wide slate of entertainment options at their expanded Music Valley facility over their half-decade plus worth of work in Nashville.

Brandi Hodge of The Catio is leading her organization to new heights in the Music Valley.

In the month of November 2024, we attended two of their events. Most recently, we returned for our second Catio Thanksgiving dinner held on Thursday the 28th. It was a complete and tasty meal with turkey, ham and all the traditional sides plus pies for desert. It was family style seating with the cats who later enjoyed a fish feast for the holiday that included sardines and baby shrimp.

Before that we took in a game night in which we played "Kitty, Kitty" which is basically bingo with cats. This is a monthly occurrence in the big room with all the felines roaming around trying perhaps to get in on the action. In October, the event featured a Halloween theme and costume contest while December's scheduled festivities will contain a Dirty Santa gift exchange for all participants.

In between all the activities cats like this guy are looking for a new home via adoption.

The Catio Cat Lounge located at 2416 Music Valley Drive in Nashville, Tennessee is a unique Adoption Center. This non-profit 501(c)(3) is dedicated to finding cats and kittens forever homes. The Catio has a number of large open spaces for the animals to mingle and roam. The rooms are full of beds, cat trees, engaging toys and food/water bowls.

The Catio also saves animals whose age, behavior or health may prevent them from getting adopted quickly so it is also a loving home for special needs cats. Our favorite member of this class is Kenny who is often available to be walked in a stroller if you have the time. This is just one of the many volunteering opportunites that comes up often at The Catio.

Our recent Thanksgiving dinners have come with a side of cat hair and we don't care!

The Catio rescues and rehomes about 1,000 cats annually with the help of an incredible network of volunteers and foster families plus a passionate staff that keeps the Adoption Center running smoothly. There are many additional ways for folks to support The Catio. One is to visit and pay an entrance fee to pet, play and sit with the felines. Another is to attend one or more of their fun affairs such as movie night, painting with the cats, the aforementioned game night and Thanksgiving. They also have a gift shop with some cool Catio swag.

In the next few months The Catio will be hosting Toddler Activity Days, Paint Purr Pet, Bingo and a number of over 21 nights billed as a social mixer and beer tasting. Please visit their website for dates and times of those events or book a time to hang out with the kitties. Donations are also greatly appreciated.

There was a feast for cats and humans at The Catio on Thanksgiving Day.
