The Catio Has a Spirited and Fantastic Feline Friendly Day at Their First Craft, Food & Adoption Fair in Music Valley

by Rich and Laura Lynch

The Catio Cat Lounge, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) who have been dedicated to finding cats and kittens placement in loving permanent homes with over 5000 adoptions achieved since their founding over five years ago. On Saturday, September 21, 2024 they held their first Craft, Food & Adoption Fair with a little help from classic rock legend Norman Greenbaum and support from several vendors who were selling their wares and services - many of them of course with a feline friendly theme.

The Catio Cat Lounge located at 2416 Music Valley Drive in Nashville.

Norman Greenbaum was in Nashville for his annual pilgrimage to the AmericanaFest and he took a few hours out of his busy schedule to sign autographs and talk to a few dozen fans at a private table set up in The Catio's quiet room for senior cats. For Greenbaum - who is best known for his very much ubiquitous hit song "Spirit in the Sky" - this event was personal as he is a cat lover who is still sentimental over the relatively recent loss of his own furry friend Oliver who himself became a bit of a pet celebrity thanks to Norman's many posts about him on social media.

The Catio's Brandi Hodge welcomes Norman Greenbaum; a current resident; and, Cali Sober was one of many vendors at the fair.

By all accounts, The Catio's first foray into the world of hosting a festival of their own was a smashing success as their 2416 Music Valley Drive location in Nashville received a steady stream of foot traffic over the course of the seven-hour event that ran from 10 am to 5 pm. These visitors had the opportunity to check out over 20 vendors - many of whom were selling cat related goods and novelties - spread throughout the inside of The Catio's main room and outside in the popular strip mall's expansive parking lot.

Some more residents; Norman Greenbaum meets Holywood Howie; and, more cat related arts and crafts.

The Catio runs on your donations! Spending time with their current residents, donations and gifts all help to support their work to save cats whose age, health and behaviors in other settings may prevent them from getting adopted. The Catio also focuses on the senior, elderly, frightened, stressed and sick or injured cats who might otherwise be euthanized. Check out their Facebook page - linked below - for upcoming events such as Movie Nights and Painting With Cats to schedule your first or next visit today.

Norman Greenbaum and Bonita Kay Capps met over two dozens fans at The Catio in Nashville.
