A Grand Time Was Had at Opry Country Classics in Nashville

by Rich and Laura Lynch

Every year the Grand Ople Opry celebrates the classic songs that made you fall in love with country music through a slightly different show than their flagship offering called Opry Country Classics. This is where celebrity hosts, spotlight artists and classic country fans come together to celebrate the songs that made Nashville "Music City" providing what they call the classic country experience - at the Opry. Your team from MCN had the pleasure of experiencing our very fist OCC on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee featuring performances by The Gatlin Brothers, Mark Wills, William Michael Morgan, Mark Wills, Dailey & Vincent and Sara Evans.

Inside the Circle Room where Opry Member Mark Wills greeted the fans; WSM morning man Bill Cody kept the night moving right along.

Larry Gatlin was the evening's personable celebrity host and the legendary country and southern gospel singer was on point and up to the task of presenting a night of incredible entertainment that we didn't want to end. Making the occasion even more special was the fact that it was the birthday of one of the giants of the genre - George Jones. As such, many of the acts played at least one of his songs to the delight of his widow, Nancy Jones, who was also in the House autographing and selling copies of her latest memoir - 'Playin' Possum': Nancy Jones Remembers George Jones - that was available for sale in the Opry Gift Shop.

Making our Opry night extra special was the fact that we had additional tickets allowing us to receive special perks in the Circle Room premium lounge before and during the show. We joined a small group of fans in the V.I.P. experience and enjoyed delicious bites, unlimited drinks from the Circle Room private bar that featured premium liquors and local hops. We also got a commemorative photo and a special welcome from Mark Wills who was moments away from taking the stage to kick off a night in Nashville that we won't soon forget.
