Cats & Coffee Equals a Win-Win at The Catfeine Cat Cafe in Murfreesboro

by Rich and Laura Lynch

The Catfeine Cat Cafe located at 517 Carson Lane in Murfreesboro, Tennessee has a winning combination of cats paired with coffee. We had the pleasure of visiting this enchanting establishment on Saturday, April 13, 2024. An hour spent with a cat or several will perk up your spirits and admission supports this worthy business so it is a win-win.

It was a great day for out first visit to the Catfeine Cat Cafe.

The Catfeine Cat Cafe is an inviting space to interact with a variety of cats who are ready for adoption. The main room where the felines reside is a like a living room with cat themed decor, perches and shelves for the cats to lounge.

Throughout the room there are baskets of toys, food and water fountains along with stools for humans to sit close to the cats who like to lay on the floors. This fun environment feels more like a home while giving the cats time to acclimate to humans and being around other animals.

During our visit we met many friendly felines of various ages and types. Quite a few enjoyed engaging in play while others preferred pets and if you are lucky you will be rewarded with a content purr from your new friend.

The room had a relaxed and welcoming vibe. Folks from the Catfeine are happy to share their insights about their residents plus they have a rolling video that introduces each by name, age and personality.

This video wall alerts visitors to who is up for adoption.

Can there be a better combination than cats and coffee? Their entrance lobby serves as a shop for Catfeine merchandise which supports the great work that this cat cafe is doing. The Catfeine offers for sale a limited menu of pre-packaged goodies. Their self-serve coffee bar has a state of the art, bean to cup "super-automatic" coffee maker that will make a drink at the touch of a button. All beverages taken into the cat lounge will be in a cup with a lid. Although the coffee is a plus it is the cats that are the big draw.

"Time spent with cats is never wasted" speaks the truth on the wall at the Catfeine. An hour visit with the cats is currently $12.00 which allows the Catfeine to cover the expenses of running this business which includes care for the approximately 20 cats that reside there. It is a pleasant way to spend an hour especially if you are considering becoming a cat parent.

The adoption fee is $150, which is paid directly to the rescue. The cats are fully vetted meaning they are up to date on vaccinations and spay/neuter. The process usually takes 3-5 days depending on your circumstances as there is a screening process as the Catfeine wants to insure a good match.

If you are not ready to become a pet parent, please consider a donation. The cats at the cafe eat Blue Buffalo Tastefuls Adult-Chicken dry cat food and like Tidy Cat Free and Clean litter. Of course, new toys are a big hit and please spend time at the Catfeine Cat Cafe as it is a win-win!

We met some of the coolest cats in the Boro!
