Why Brother Maven Is Our New Favorite Nashville Based Band

by Rich and Laura Lynch

When we walked through the swinging doors of the Wildhorse Saloon in early November for a private party celebrating our newly crowned champions of the PBR Team Series - the Nashville Stampede - we were immediately taken in by the sweet sounds emanating from the coolest stage just off of Lower Broadway. That is when we first observed the Nashville based cover band and original artists in their own right Brother Maven doing their thing as part of a regular residency at the club.

Brother Maven is our favorite new Nashville based band.

At its very solid core Brother Maven is a trio comprised at Daniel Mason Swartz: Lead Vocals & Guitar, JP Presley: Lead Guitar & Vocals, and Joel Burns: Drums. The charisma and professionalism displayed as they ran through a greatest hits of classic rock tracks got our attention - especially their delicious takes on "The Power Of Love" (Huey Lewis & The News), "Rosanna" (Toto) and "Interstate Love Song" (Stone Temple Pilots).

"We like to call it American rock and soul. Where melody and groove and the feel of the song are the heart and soul of everything about it," the band says in their online EPK. "We draw a lot of inspiration from bands like the Eagles, the Doobie Brothers and Huey Lewis. Very groovy. Very singable. Songs that feel good to sing when you're driving in your car."

Daniel Mason Swartz is the captivating and charismatic frontman for Brother Maven.

But, they aren't simply just another cover band like the ones you will find in every honky tonk up and down on the main strip in Music City. Brother Maven released an incredible debut album last year appropriately titled TWENTY TWENTY ONE that is turning heads and perking up ears. Brother Maven seeks to fill their songs with the same human spirit that has made American music so powerful and relatable throughout the years and to repackage it for listeners in the modern day - and on their first record they are well on their way to achieving just that and more.

Brother Maven continues their ongoing residency at Wildhorse Saloon.
