Sixwire Throws a Holiday Show to Remember in Nashville

by Rich and Laura Lynch

Sixwire is comprised of some of Music City's most sought after sidemen. Heck, even the NFL came calling to book them as their more than capable house band on the huge stage on Broadway during the 2019 big league draft. So, their annual holiday party is always a good time and a much anticipated event. This year's celebration at 3rd & Lindsley on December 8, 2021 was no different. In fact, it might have been their most memorable celebration to date.

Our legendary reporter Marlene "Marlene On The Scene" Felton positioned herself prominently stage side where she had an up close and personal view of the performers. According to her posts online she had never seen so many smiles beaming out to the crowd at one time. And why not? The boys in Sixwire - Andy Childs, Steve Mandile, Robb Houston, John Howard, and Chuck Tilley - were surrounded by friends and fans joined together after the previous tumultuous calendar year and that was the best gift of all.

Some of their musical friends included the industry giant Steve Cropper on guitar. Speaking of giants - Steve was joined onstage by newly Nashvillian and only recently returned to live performing Meat Loaf and together they ripped through a reprise of "Johnny B. Goode" that Meat broke out earlier in the year at John Rich's place. According to the rumor mill Meat will be utilizing Sixwire when he records his new album in town. Charles "Chip" Esten played the role of Santa's helper returning the favor to the backing band who prominently and regularly supported him during the height of his Nashville fame. This was well worth the $15 dollar stocking stuffer price tag of admission. We can't wait to do it all over again next year!
