Meeting Up with Music City Mike

by Rich and Laura Lynch

In February of 2018 two exiled former New Jerseyans - Rich Lynch and Jay Pounders - met up with another Music City pioneer with deep roots in the Garden State. Even better, Music City Mike is a self-described "pizza snob" and he suggested we convene at the ridiculously busy and satisfying Joey's Pizza just a few miles from the downtown.

We placed our order and sat down in the crowded lunch room to wait for our two over-sized slices each. A frequent lament when you move from the New York City region to anywhere else in the country is that pizza will never be as good. Let's just say our hour-long conference was a long-overdue taste of home.

Music City Mike, Rich Lynch and Jay Pounders have a pizza summit in Nashville.

The premise of the get together was for Mike to pre-interview both Lynch and Pounders for his popular "11 Questions" series on his self-titled blog, Music City Mike. Both of the good pizza-starved New Jersey transplants are actively pursuing their own music dreams in Nashville, Tennessee. Mike is a self-described music geek living in the region. He covers many concerts in town and you can often find him pouring through the bins of a used record store hoping to add to his already expansive collection. Mike was born and raised just outside of New York City. He spent two decades in South Texas (Austin area) before moving to Music City in 1998.

At the meeting Jay was working hard to advance his upcoming regular monthly gig at Belcourt Taps with a number 7 theme: the 7th of each month for 7 months at 7pm. Rich was detailing his plans to achieve One Million Downloads in the coming year while having a laugh with Mike about his Springsteen On Broadway protest song "Ow, A Bad Singer's Pony Rent". Thanks Mike, for the support and the pizza tip!!! Full interviews at links below.
