At The Catio - Come Meet the Famous Felines Who Are the Real Nashville Cats of Music Valley

by Rich and Laura Lynch

There are a lot of famous human beings who grace the stage of the Grand Ole Opry that sits only a few hundred yards from The Catio and The Senior Catio now located at 2416 Music Valley Dr., Suite 119 in the Music Valley section of Nashville, Tennessee. Decades ago one of the most famous recording collectives to emerge from Music City were known as the Nashville Cats. Now, you can get to know some real friendly felines both online and in person at The Catio's new location in the heart of the local tourist district here.

• What we love most about The Catio in Nashville is that you can learn about their residents through an online Facebook feed and then when you visit their expansive brick and mortar set-up you might actually feel that you already know a few of the cats. Or, if you visit often enough you might see the same animal on occasion depending on the current adoption rate.

• Walter is a male, 8 year old orange tabby currently residing on The Senior side of the facility. We found Walter to be friendly, curious, cute and just a tad spicy. This cool guy reminded us just a bit of the world-famous Kurt the Cat - himself a Mid-Tenn local celebrity and Internet star.

• We were introduced to this fab cat online only as "resting grumpy face". In person, RGF came off as dignified and highly tolerant of humans. Plus, you can't really argue with anyone being grumpy much these days.

• We didn't catch this cat's name above but we did catch several unsolicited but very much appreciated paw high-fives all by its own initiative. There's something special here under the furry exterior. If only we could adopt them all. The gray boy below is the dignified Duke who has a big personality. Duke remembered us from the last time making it hard to leave from our latest visit to The Catio empty handed. But, dozens of cats find new homes every week in Music City so we are determined to tell their story until we can build a cat condominium of our own.
