Country Superstar Ronnie McDowell Opens the Troubadour VIP Lounge in the Music Valley

by Rich and Laura Lynch

On Friday evening, November 8, 2024 country music superstar Ronnie McDowell began what promises to be a long-term residency at the newly opened Troubadour VIP Lounge located right next door to the long-standing Troubadour event space in the Music Valley section of Nashville, Tennessee.

The new Troubadour VIP Lounge adds a real Broadway-style feel to the Music Valley.

Ronnie McDowell was an Elvis superfan who following Presley's passing in 1977 released an independent single titled "The King Is Gone" and he hasn't looked back since. The following year in 1978 he performed the song on the NBC special, Nashville Remembers Elvis on His Birthday to officially launch his own career as he began a long reign as a country music superstar in his own right.

Ronnie McDowell confirmed his country superstar status at his Troubadour VIP Lounge debut.

With more than thirty Top 40 hits on the Billboard country music charts and two Number one tracks - "Older Women" and "You're Gonna Ruin My Bad Reputation" - on the country charts it's clear that McDowell is the real deal. In Nashville, the Curb Records recording artist since 1986 was personable and charismatic for a house full packed of fans who were thrilled to watch the famous singer in this intimate environment.

The walls are adorned with a lot of memorabilia including a painting by Ronnie McDowell.

In addition to the live show this concert was being livestreamed as viewers were encouraged to call-in to tip the band. Inside, there was also a large tip bucket being passed around as McDowell explained this would be the first of many shows at the Troubadour VIP Lounge - a home away from the road - when the four piece has a break in their touring schedule. While we're not sure if Ronnie has a financial stake in this new endeavor - his name and a large portrayal of himself standing with Ernest Tubbs on Broadway is prominently featured as the backdrop mural to the Troubadour VIP Lounge's world-class stage set-up.

This great band included Ronnie McDowell, Jr. on drums.

We are certain, however, that we met the Troubadour VIP Lounge owner and driving force Rodney Collins who was happy to show us around his new bar even as he was making last minute preparations for Ronnie McDowell's debut on his stage. Collins is no stranger to the entertainment business as he is also a recording artist and captivating frontman. And - you have probably seen him at his other nearby outpost - the Music City Bar & Grill if you are a regular visitor to the touristy side of town. Collins was all smiles as the 7 p.m. start time approached at his festive new watering hole where they were cooking up good times, a successful launch and FREE hot dogs and hamburgers for those who came out to celebrate another big moment for the music industry in Nashville, Tennessee.

Troubadour VIP Lounge owner Rodney Collins was making last minute preps hours before its grand opening.
