The Nashville Predators Made All the Right Moves and Played With Plenty of Heart and Soul This Season in the NHL

by Rich and Laura Lynch

The Nashville Predators saw their 2023/24 season come to a halt when on May 03, 2024 they suffered a Game 6 loss in Round 1 of the NHL Playoffs to the top-seeded Vancouver Canucks 1-0 before a disappointed but entirely engaged home crowd at the Bridgestone Arena. You see - the Preds weren't even supposed to make it to the big show this spring as they were only one year into what was going to be a long rebuild if early pundits were to be believed. But, this team played with a lot of heart and soul - looking competitive and nearly dominant in all but one of the matches against their Canadian rivals. They were also benefitting from a lot of pre- and mid-season moves made by the new team hierarchy under the leadership of General Manager Barry Trotz and Head Coach Andrew Brunette. Heart, soul and chess can make for a winning combination.

SOULCHESS doing their thing in Nashville.

To that end - a fantastic band was playing on the concourse prior to the puck drop and we enjoyed watching several minutes of Nashville's own SOULCHESS do their thing. Fronted by the magical Memphian Derrian Childress - SOULCHESS is nothing if not authentic. They are also very original existing to defy what people may typically think of as 'Nashville music'. Consisting of members from wildly varying stylistic backgrounds, the band has a sound that is the epitome of a fabulous harmonious fusion - and, they are now back - post pandemic - with guns blazing and ready to take on the world.

Nashville is still standing with the Predators.

With the addition of SOULCHESS on their concourse the Nashville Predators reminded fans that they throw one of the best pre-game parties in town. The return of the mangled up Smash Car that is festooned in opponent's teams colors and logo - and the continuation of the Preds' Party in the Park gatherings - where fans come together outside of the arena to take in the final game on the big screen all helped to prove that this team and city are once again ready for a deeper playoff run in future Finals. I guess we will just have to wait until next year - which, is really just around the corner!

Let's get this party started again in 2024/25!
