In Music City Pickleball Keeps Turning Up in the Strangest Places

by Rich and Laura Lynch

Nashville's Rockin' Rich Lynch paid a visit to The Mall at Green Hills in Nashville, Tennessee a little earlier in the year and a pickleball court in a well-trafficked wing of the shopping center served as the inspiration for his humorous new track called "Pickleball at the Mall" that is winning the independent recording artist many new fans with adherents of the popular sporting craze. But, that isn't the only strange place that pickleball happens to be sprouting up in across the Mid-Tenn region.

Rockin' Rich Lynch plays pickleball at 21 Club in Nashville.

A few miles from the Nashville Zoo and near where Harding Pike and Antioch Pike intersect in Music City sits one of the last great neighborhood bars in the region called the 21 Club aka LA Lounge. Installed in early 2022, pickleball aficionados from all walks of life are now converging on owner Greg's two welcoming courts that are available to play at all hours of the day thanks to the professional lighting installed on the side of destination bar. 21 Club is the official "Home of the Music City Slammers" and it is in fact here that Rockin' Rich Lynch actually played pickleball for the first time on May 24, 2023 in an attempt to gain insight and some needed authenticity if he is going to be singing about the game for the foreseeable future.

But, it doesn't stop there. Real live Nashville celebrities and country stars are getting into the action as well. A recent charity pickleball event recent wrapped up on the campus of Belmont University that featured 8 Pro Pickleball Players versus 8 local celebrities for a fun night of pickleball! Sponsored by Dinkville to benefit Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee the tournament featured appearances by Dierks Bentley, Bobby Bones, Phillip Phillips, James Neal and more. Not to be outdone - for the first time ever, CMA Fest (the largest annual gathering of country music fans in the world) will also feature pickleball at Fan Fair X inside Music City Center Thursday, June 8 through Saturday, June 10. LOCASH & DINK are presenting "Country on Court: Pickleball at CMA Fest" that will feature a celebrity tournament benefiting the CMA Foundation, open court play between amateur pickleball players and fans, as well as prizes, giveaways and surprise appearances from special guests, including DINK's own spokesllama, Volley. Additional programming for "Country on Court: Pickleball at CMA Fest" will be announced soon.

21 Club is Home of the Music City Slammers.

Back to 21 Club - it can't be all about pickleball all the time. They're getting into music, too, with an upcoming event that will also draw upon Tennessee history when they present Stephen Freeman's "A Tribute To Elvis" on Saturday, July 15, 2023. Join Stephen - who many consider to be the great impersonator of The King in the world - at 1331 Antioch Pike for his tribute to Elvis at the home of country music in Nashville!

"Pickleball at the Mall" is the latest track from RRL.
