Andrea Bocelli's THE JOURNEY Is a Perfect Pilgrimage for Holy Week

by Rich and Laura Lynch

When we attended the Andrea Bocelli concert only a few short weeks ago at the Bridgestone Arena they were heavily promoting THE JOURNEY: A Music Special from Andrea Bocelli on the venue's big screens. So, when we had a chance to be a part of this epic adventure we jumped at the chance to see the opening day showing of the film at Regal Opry Mills on April 02, 2023 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Trinity Broadcasting Network, Fathom Events, and Impact Productions premiered their new documentary, THE JOURNEY: A Music Special from Andrea Bocelli on Palm Sunday. THE JOURNEY followed world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli and his wife Veronica as they traveled through some of Italy's breathtaking terrain on horseback to complete parts of the unforgettable Via Francigena - a historical pilgrimage in which Christians journey to Rome to worship at grand cathedrals and visit the burial sites of revered saints and apostles.

The film can be seen in theaters nationwide, April 03, 04, 06, 07, 08 and 09, 2023. THE JOURNEY is an inspiring and unique way to observe Holy Week as it is a celebration of faith, hope, love and music. The documentary is beautifully filmed. The Italian countryside is awe inspiring as are the ancient churches and other historically spots that the couple visits.

The 200-mile trek began with a blessing from The Pope. As they travel the scenic road the group of riders and guests touch upon topics of music and faith which cohesively tied into the songs that were performed along the way. The compositions and conversations were in both English and Italian. On their journey the Bocellis encountered a number of musical friends with a few on horseback. The first was Tori Kelly who presented the uplifting "Never Alone", a bit later Bocelli and Kelly sang a heavenly version of "Hallelujah" supported by the talented 40 Fingers. When they arrived at an amphitheater there was Michael W. Smith at the piano ready to accompany Andrea.

Tauren Wells confessed that although he was from Texas he had not been on a horse before this pilgrimage. Tauren at the piano played a moving piece called "Hills and Valleys". The next musical meeting featured TAYA along with 2Cellos who would be back to put their creative spin on Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence". Bocelli also sang with Katherine Jenkins and Clara Barbier Serrano as they got closer to the end of this spiritual journey where they were reunited with their family.

"Andrea Bocelli is a masterful tenor and his voice, combined with the beautiful footage and music in THE JOURNEY make for an incredible event," said Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Events. "This documentary of Andrea's faith-filled pilgrimage will be an incredible addition to theaters this Easter holiday."

"Combining world-class musical performances with intimate conversations across the awe-inspiring Italian countryside, THE JOURNEY: A Music Special from Andrea Bocelli is an exploration of the moments that define us, the songs that inspire us, and the relationships that connect us to what matters most," Nutt added. THE JOURNEY is both a poignant and powerful creation that could double as an ad for the Italia Ministry of Tourism. THE JOURNEY is a wonderful way to observe the Easter season and we encourage you to experience it for yourself this week.
