George Becker Is a Man On a Country Music Mission in Nashville

by Rich and Laura Lynch

MCN founder Rockin' Rich Lynch and the hard rockin' singer/songwriter George Becker shared the stage on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Bobby Ray's Rockin' Writers Round at Bad Axe Throwing on Fogg Street in Nashville, Tennessee in the shadow of the Batman Building.

The last time these two musicians with deep New Jersey roots met up was in 2018 when they had a lunch gathering and music industry pow wow at Mission BBQ across the street from the Grand Ole Opry. This locale appealed to the very patriotic Becker who was visibly moved by the food establishment's dedication to the American Armed Forces. If Becker seemed slightly distracted during that meeting the reason became clear a half a decade later in Music City.

"This song was inspired by visiting Nashville and having a meal at Mission BBQ," Becker revealed about his serious anthem called "Mission" written for the men and women who serve. The track was impressive at Bad Axe as it was brought to life in a live setting with help from guitarist Pete Fry. "It's weird having Rich here in front of me. I went home and wrote this song immediately after our last get together."

The Becker and Lynch connection dates back to 2015 when the pair had a mutual friend in Ringwood-based music producer Steve Brown (Trixter/Def Leppard) who was working with both men on separate projects. Becker was recording tracks for his hard rockin' metal band Jaded Past while Lynch was launching the project that would ultimately lead him to Nashville. In 2020, George made a pivot to merge his musical stylings with the modern country of today. Now, with over 40,000 monthly listeners on Spotify the move seems to be paying off for Becker as his musical mission continues to get noticed.

Bobby Ray is no stranger to writing anthemic themed songs as his track "Axes and Alcohol" was born out of his real life experience of hosting a weekly writers round at one of Nashville's most unique establishments and performing venues. When not hosting, Bobby plays out almost nightly ever since relocating to Music City from Ohio in 2020 and he has just recently released his full-length debut album called "It's Not the Years, It's the Mileage" that critics are calling a very personal set of songs that are both warm and truthful.
