Sam's Jams Breaks Out The Beatles on Music Row

by Rich and Laura Lynch

Sami Jo is a country singer/songwriter with a strong influence of classic rock. Originally hailing from Redding, California - Sam's lifelong passion for writing songs led her, of course, to Nashville, to follow her desire to touch hearts with her music. A regular at The Bluebird Cafe, Sami Jo can often be found at various writer's rounds around town, connecting and engaging with her fans.

Sami Jo hosts the weekly Sam's Jams in Nashville.

In January, she began an exciting new venture hosting "Sam's Jams" - a weekly artist showcase held at the Virgin Hotels Nashville situated within the prestigious main corridor of the industry here in town right on Music Row. Sam aims to showcase only the best acts in her rounds as she searches for top quality singer songwriters to share the stage with her. That quality is returned by the Virgin Hotels host who offers a round of drinks for every artist who performs at the Sam's Jams. This touch of class did not go unnoticed and it is something the other venues in town could learn a thing or two from when it comes to artist relations.

On June 01, 2022 - it was Beatles night and we arrived just in time to watch four of Sam's hand selected performers - Reed Clayton, Paul Ivy, Lance Dubroc and Steve Grauberger - put their spin on the songs by the influential lads from Liverpool in a lineup that also included Chili Munroe and Johnathan Pushkar. By reaching back to the music of The Beatles the evening of entertainment also served as a master class in world-class songwriting. But, the night wasn't over yet.

Penny Lane is a new all-girl Beatles cover band getting started in Music City.

Sami is herself no stranger to the Beatles or Paul McCartney for that matter. The cute host handles the role of "Paul" in her all girl Beatles cover band Penny Lane. The 'fem four made their "Sam's Jam" debut on Wednesday fresh off of an exhausting yet exciting pilgrimage to see the ex-Beatle play in Knoxville on the previous night. Together, the girls proved the concept by showing how the potential of quality musicianship blended with top-notch female vocals would work to power the beloved and classic Fab Four catalog to new horizons. Unfortunately, some technical difficulties shortened their set. But, we'll be back soon to watch how this endeavor will evolve and ultimately come together over time.
