Something Musical Is Brewing at Nashville Coffees in the Music Valley

by Rich and Laura Lynch

Something musical is brewing at Nashville Coffees as indicated by the weekly Songwriter's Showcase that we attended on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 - presented by TSAI and hosted by the supportive presence of the talented Jaye D Marie.

Your MCN founder Rockin' Rich Lynch came out of hiding to make his monthly Music City appearance - inching ever closer to the hallowed Grand Ole Opry stage which loomed in the background just across the street from the coffee house. Seeing that many artists of the 60's played similar café themed venues, Lynch offered a couple of protest songs to start before hitting on the spiritual themes of his recently recorded "Devil Babies" followed by his fan favorite "Jesus Rock" just in time for Easter Week.

The surprise of the evening featured an authentic Nashville hit songwriter in the house as the prolific Jan Buckingham offered a riveting master class in the art of crafting hits across a wide range of genres. Jan played for over an hour beginning at 8 p.m. and talked about the process that led her to compose charting tracks for artists including Pam Tillis, Whitney Houston, George Jones, Melissa Manchester, Engelbert Humperdinck and more.

Hit songwriter Jan Buckingham put on a master class in the discipline on Tuesday night.

Other standouts included the classically trained host Jaye D Marie who played her keyboard while standing and sang about her world travels that included a track with a tasty cajun point of view. Alex Creamer and Frank Fruehan are recent transplants from back east and they impressed with their expressive songs as they begin their immersion into the Nashville scene. Elizabeth Bernardini and Randal Smith complimented each other's style nicely as they headed up the 7:00 p.m. round.

There is also something exciting brewing at the Music Valley strip mall that is home to Nashville Coffees. In addition to an expanded offering of shops that offer their take on vintage goods and flea market fare, there is an emphasis on physical activities ranging from the dance studio that is the neighbor of Nashville Coffees to a place to get your cat petting (The Catio Cat Lounge) put into high gear. Also notable was the axe throwing business (AxeVentures), the newly launched Medieval fighting and training campus (Nashville Armored Combat) that is generating a lot of interest in the sport.

Newly Nashvillain Frank Fruehan and Alex Creamer are off and running in Mid-Tenn.
