Pickin' On The Piney Makes a Determined Debut in Dickson

by Rich and Laura Lynch

They are calling it the "first annual" Pickin' On The Piney Music Festival and after a few delays due to weather and red tape the inaugural event went off without a hitch over two beautiful days on October 16 and 17, 2021 - in Dickson, Tennessee.

The grand party was the brainchild of Linda Quick - the property owner who launched the extravaganza to prove the viability of her land as an idyllic event space about an hour west of Nashville on I-40. With the help of Steve Crow her team created a new music venue complete with stage, sound pavilion and a relaxing green room that catered to over two dozen musicians over two days.

Those acts offered up a diversity of quality sound that you would expect from being so close to "Music City" in a variety of genres ranging from bluegrass, pop, modern folk, outlaw country all the way to classic rock. Performers included a cast of talented characters with names like Rockin' Rich Lynch, Campbell's Calamity Soup, Darren T, Yesterday's Country, Mike Shipley, Songster Stash, Carol Tarsitano, Denise Benson Band, Mike Hebert, Jim Westmoreland, Terri Lynn Blues Band, Pickin' Crows, Tesa Lynn, Javelyn, Jaycee Lynne, Mickey Daniel and more.

The family friendly event featured live music and a variety of vendors selling arts and crafts, jewlery and deserts. There was a face painting tent and a petting zoo for the kids and proceeds were enlisted to help raise funds and awareness for local first responders who were instrumental in helping the region recover from the recent devastating floods that shook Mid-Tenn.

Arts and crafts, vendors, face painting and a petting zoo were all a part of the "Piney".

Good things come to those who wait and everyone in attendance seemed to have had a great time in a lovely natural environment. With one successful music festival in the books it will interesting to see what the folks at Piney River Land have in store for their next edition.
