Broadly Speaking - Nashville Growth Continues Unabated

by Rich and Laura Lynch

Despite a pandemic that had shut down the world construction in Nashville, Tennessee has continued unabated so that in March of 2021 the latest multi-use complex opened to much fanfare. Fifth + Broadway features eats, entertainment and shopping. In addition, businesses can rent office space at 501 Commerce and The Place offers 1, 2 or 3 bedroom apartments or penthouses on the upper levels of this fabulous facility.

Fifth + Broadway has moved from concept to near completion.

Once an old and tired convention center Fifth + Broadway is a mega development with plenty of restaurants and retail spots including Ariat, Free People, Boqueria, Cava, Jeni's Ice Cream, Ray Ban, Sephora, Shake Shack and much more. Nashville is known for hot chicken so on our first visit here we opted to have lunch at Hattie B's who served us up some fine fiery fowl with tasty sides. This bistro has a prime location right on Broadway.

Hattie B's takes its rightful place front and center in the Downtown.

Both the indoor and outdoor open concepts afford downtown views plus there are plenty of colorful murals for photos. As we were strolling around we heard live music and sure enough there was a stage with a large window framing the Ryman - quite a backdrop. There are also bars with seating at Fifth + Broadway. We also observed that there is another section being worked on so that this expansive complex which was four years in the making will have even more offerings in the near future.

Three hot chicken tenders and two sides for only $10 is a bargain on Broadway.

Fifth + Broadway is across the street from both the Bridgestone Arena and the revered Ryman Auditorium. It is surrounded by honky-tonks thus making it a hub in Music City. This development is walkable and there are several parking garages for locals or tourists. Plus, the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) is located here adding to the list of impressive museums in the Downtown devoted to music.

Exotic food destinations are now available thanks to Fifth + Broadway.

"NMAAM is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the many music genres created, influenced, and inspired by African Americans. The museum's expertly-curated collections will share the story of the American soundtrack by integrating history and interactive technology to bring the musical heroes of the past into the present."

Music and dessert help make Music City a sweet place to shop.

Fifth + Broadway is a prime example that broadly speaking Nashville's growth continues unabated. This complex in a prime location has it all - culture, food, housing, office space, parking, shopping and walkability. This hub is also near hotels, the Music City Convention Center and is not too far from Nissan Stadium. From lunch breaks to post-concert gatherings, this multi-level mecca is another big draw for all.
